Vital Launches Website for Memorial Bridge Project

It’s no secret that we love our little city by the sea. Portsmouth is the place Vital calls home, so we were excited to work on the new site for the Memorial Bridge Project.  The new site will allow the N.H. and Maine DOTs to share information and updates about the construction of the new Memorial Bridge, which will replace the original bridge between Portsmouth and Kittery, Maine. For the community, it will be a great resource during the time the bridge is closed.  (more…)

Eight Things Your New Website Needs

Planning a website for a small business in nh.

It’s time, isn’t it? Your website, built five years ago by someone’s cousin for free, is showing its age. You’re embarrassed to send clients there. It has out-of-date information. And nobody can find it on Google. And it takes your Web developer two weeks to update it because just the thought of working on it makes him queasy.

It’s time to update your website. Take a deep breath. You can get through it.

Planning a new website design for your small business can be daunting. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, but there are a few basic functions and content areas you should include to make it an effective marketing tool. (more…)

Real-Life Social Networking: How The Music Hall Wins With Community Marketing

Real-Life Social Networking: How The Music Hall Wins With Community Marketing

An essential component of any business is relationships. It’s who you know and how you can help each other. Relationship building is how my employer, The Music Hall, does business.

But that’s only half the circle. If you go into a relationship with the understanding that by helping each other, everyone benefits, then you are really onto something.

Call it synergy, call it enlightened self-interest, call it a rising tide that lifts all boats. It doesn’t matter what you call it, the effect is real. So why don’t more business do it?

Business Relationships Take Time

This is not a quick fix. It takes time and effort to develop a genuine relationship with your partners. The Music Hall is a 900-seat historic theater in the heart of downtown Portsmouth, NH and it seems that every production we create or event we host involves partnering with a business, non-profit organization, or charity. Vital Launches Website for Explodin’ Diet Coke & Mentos Viral Video Legends

NH-Website-Design

When EepyBird contacted Vital Design for a new website this year, to be honest, we didn’t recognize EepyBird’s unique company name.

Their YouTube videos, however, were unmistakable.

“When we saw their iconic videos, we knew we had an opportunity to work with legends,” said Julia Ahumada, one of Vital’s managing partners.

Fritz Grobe and Stephen Voltz – collectively known as EepyBird – are the two gentlemen in white lab coats and goggles who make 2-liter bottles of Diet Coke erupt by dropping in Mentos mint candies. This hobby has made them viral video marketing geniuses and a symbol of the power of the Internet. They’ve appeared on TV on The Late Show with David Letterman, Ellen DeGeneres, and Mythbusters, to name a few. They’ve been named to Time Magazine’s 2010 List of YouTube’s Greatest Hits, been nominated for two Emmys, appeared in music videos for Weezer and Barenaked Ladies, and have created viral videos for Coke, Mentos, Office Max, ABC Family, and Blue Man Group. Vanity Facebook Page URLs

facebook-graphic

If you were too busy buying buying fireworks or erecting MJ shrines last week, you may have forgotten to declare your independence from gobbledygook Facebook urls on your company’s Facebook Page. Don’t worry, there’s probably still time.

As it first did for personal profile users on June 13, Facebook.com granted administrators of Pages (the ones you use a lot for business) the ability to set custom (or vanity) urls on June 28.

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out your company page or personal profile on Facebook.com and look at the url in your browser. It probably looks something like this:

Love Your Site Like Your Scooter

scooterIt’s scooter weather here in New Hampshire and I don’t think there’s anything better than hearing the whoosh of my tires on the pavement and feeling the wind in my hair and the sun on my face as I zoom around town on my scooter. I love my scooter.

But it doesn’t love me. I think it may hate me. It’s always making excuses why we can’t hang out: “My battery is totally drained.” “Cough, air filter’s clogged.” “My engine’s on fire.”

I know I could avoid these uncomfortable rejections if I paid more attention to my scooter on a regular basis instead of only when I want a ride somewhere. I am terrible about maintaining my scooter, so I end up spending a lot of time (and money) on fixes I could avoid with regular oil changes and other service.

Here’s where I tie this into the Vital Design marketing blog. : ] Just like your scooter or car, your business website needs proper maintenance on a regular basis. Make sure your site is running as well as possible so it doesn’t break down when you need it most – during a potential customer’s visit.
