Carol graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a degree in Communication with a Business Application, and minor in Sociology.
Throughout her time in the communication department at UNH, she developed a deep passion for writing and people. This interest lead her to pursue two internship experiences — one with a small eco-friendly start-up and another with a local marketing and PR creative agency. And with that, Carol discovered her interest in inbound marketing! She began her journey as an intern here at Vital, and has continued to grow with the company and is now one of our very own Project Managers.
When she’s not managing foundational projects and website builds on a day-to-day basis, you can find her riding around Portsmouth on her seafoam green Buddy moped, practicing yoga, anywhere near a view of the sea, or with her family, friends and puppy Bentley!

A longtime Portsmouth resident and volleyball enthusiast, he can occasionally be seen rolling through his historic hometown on an old-fashioned high-wheeled bicycle.
Dan works on the Vital development team as a Senior Web Developer & SEO Strategist. A graduate of Keene State College with a degree in graphic design, Dan soon discovered that designing websites, not brochures, was his true calling. He started working with WordPress back in version 2.5 and pretty much adopted it as his platform of choice and hasn’t looked back since. When he is not building WordPress websites or writing code in general, you can typically find him enjoying the outdoors, eating Mexican food or watching any movie that has a decent rating on IMDB. In the winter he is a die-hard snowboarder and absolutely loves going up into the Green or White Mountains whenever the snow falls. He is the father of two human children and one cat.
Before joining Vital as Lead Developer, Todd spent 15 years as the technical director at wedu, an ad agency in Manchester, NH. His role there meant being involved in nearly every project from concept to execution, with many other local and national brands. In addition to daily development tasks, Todd has a strong background and interest in IT/IS-related server and client management. Previous to wedu, Todd worked mostly in IT roles, but jumped on the web dev bandwagon around 1999, and hasn’t looked back since.
Todd lives in Portsmouth with his wonderful rescue mutt, Guinness. His interests include finding the next great craft beer, animal rescue and rehabilitation, homebrewing and just about anything else where he can build something and enjoy the pride of seeing a result.
Matt grew up pretty close to Portsmouth — in Farmington, NH. He started his web dev career while he was still in high school, working at a local dial-up ISP called WorldPath (now BayRing) after school. Since then, he’s worked at a few different agencies between Rochester and Manchester: EnSky, Wedü and SilverTech, with one small break for a few years to teach computer class at Barrington Elementary School and a brief stint as a UX Engineer at Modus Associates in NYC.
Matt is one of the co-founders of the Front End Rally meetup, which occasionally meets here at Vital! Matt has also done a couple of talks for the New Hampshire Creative Club.
When not working on web stuff, Matt is probably either playing and/or creating video games, or spending time with his wife Amy and their dog-child, Navi. Matt also enjoys cooking, reading (currently working on Surely You’re Joking, Mr. Feynman!) and the occasional trip to Disney World.
Emily started at Vital as an intern in both our Inbound and Web departments. Today she is a Digital Marketing Coordinator who works with clients in our Inbound Department. Emily is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in International Affairs and Journalism. While at UNH she studied abroad twice — once in Cambridge, England, and once in Dijon, France. Her past work experience includes substitute teacher, camp counselor, ski instructor and as a social media manager for the UNH tour guide program.
Emily is an avid skier and hiker and is in the process of conquering all 48 of the 4,000-footers in NH. Emily’s also a huge foodie — she loves eating food, making food and finding out where her food comes from. She believes that food and local craft beer go hand in hand. On weekends you can find her hanging out with friends, her puppy and a brew at one of the many craft breweries on the Seacoast.
Hannah started at Vital as a Web Design intern and today she works in our Inbound Department as a Digital Marketing Coordinator. Hannah graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BA in English/International Affairs, and one time, UNH paid her to blog about sweaty yoga. She’s spent 10 weeks writing a fantasy novella for young adults as part of a fully-funded research project, she’s interviewed farm animals as part of a summer marketing internship with UNH Cooperative Extension, and she’s compiled social media reports for the Maine-based marketing agency Van Haren Creative.
Hannah loves the creativity and teamwork involved in inbound marketing—and considers her unique experience in communications to be part of what makes her a strong member of the Vital team. When she isn’t in the office, you can find Hannah sweating on her yoga mat, biking in goofy shorts, skiing the Ice Coast, and eating M&Ms on her couch.
Maria DiCesare (it’s pronounced like “accessory”) is a Massachusetts native who joined Vital after spending several years in Orlando, Florida, working for a small agency and battling the extreme heat. Maria’s love for New England called her back to the area and away from from the south — and she’s wicked psyched to be back home in New England. She comes to Vital with impressive agency experience in both digital marketing and copywriting.
Her previous experience spans across the entire marketing spectrum, from social media curation and pay-per-click advertising to analytics and SEO. After getting an associate’s degree in Journalism, Maria went on to get her a degree in Anthropology from the University of Central Florida. Maria uses anthropological thought and her eclectic agency experience as a foundation for her writing. She developed a fascination with agencies early in her career and loves the challenge of learning everything about a new industry (especially B2B industries) to effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences. When she’s not working, Maria’s probably exploring Portsmouth, at a yoga class, volunteering at an animal shelter or with her nose buried in a book.
Recognizing his love for both graphic design and programming, Tyler found creative agencies to be a healthy amalgamation of the two. Following his Computer Science studies at Rochester Institute of Technology, he’s worked in the agency world as a full-stack developer since 2006, always seeking answers to the age-old questions: “Can you fix this?” and “Can we make the logo bigger?”
Tyler describes his lifestyle and career approach as minimalist. Over the years, he refines his process to the bare essentials, and his “form follows function” mentality has brought success to many large scale, high profile clients.
When not at work, Tyler enjoys his time with his son and wife; he spends his screen-free time hiking/foraging, listening to old 45’s, making art and words on paper.
Anarita got her undergrad at Northeastern and her MFA from the Art Institute of Boston. Both degrees are in Photography. She started her marketing career as an intern at Vital! She then worked in the agency world for 7 years at a local agency and made a switch over to the client side working in the athletic space. She realized that she really missed agency life, and that is where she belongs. She missed a lot about agency life but the thing the client side was lacking the most is the importance and need for learning. She loves that when you work in an agency you have to stay on top of the current trends and changes, you need to constantly be learning the latest thing and growing your skill set.
Anarita lives in downtown Portsmouth and has for 8 years, she absolutely loves this town. She has a shaggy dog that looks like a muppet and she loves the outdoors so on the weekend she is usually doing something active (hiking, camping, snowboarding etc). She also bartended in town for years.
Shauna comes to Vital with project management experience and a passion for creativity. Previously working at an experiential marketing agency, Shauna managed the projects of Kellogg’s brand accounts, such as Pop-Tarts, Cheez-It, Pringles, and Breakfasts for Better Days. Shauna is a New Hampshire native, who graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with a BA in Business Administration and a concentration in Small Business Management.
In her free time, Shauna loves being active and by the ocean. She can often be found sailing, skiing, running, golfing, cooking, or at the rink. Shauna has been a figure skater for twenty years, and now enjoys coaching kids in both figure skating and hockey skills.
Max is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a degree in marketing and finance. Before joining Vital, Max had various positions at a couple of NH startup companies where he was responsible for a wide variety of marketing activities. His time in school while working propelled his interests in the digital marketing field.
Growing up in northern New Hampshire gave him a passion for the outdoors and athletics. Max hiked all the NH 48 4000 footers within one year, and plans to keep going all around the world. He considers hiking one of his biggest passions along with athletics and fly fishing. When he is not working or educating himself, you will find him at the gym, in the middle of nowhere, or on the river.
Josh graduated from Temple University in 2013 with a degree in Film and Media Arts. After studying in Los Angeles for a semester and working on a few sets, he decided drop the Hollywood plan and stay in the Northeast, stumbling across the beautiful state of New Hampshire and falling in love with the mountains, lakes, and small towns of the Seacoast. He’s learned how to be a one-man-video-band with his abilities stretching from script-writing, to cinematography, to post-production and motion graphics.
In his free time he enjoys exploring the small towns of New England with his wife while looking for the lake they’re going to buy their future lake house on.
Jamie graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in Environmental Conservation and intentions of becoming a California resident. To save for the move west, she accepted an Office Manager position with a Portsmouth web development agency. There, she quickly became enamored of all things digital marketing (which is a science unto itself), including SEO, SEM, and web development as well as beautiful seacoast New Hampshire and agency life in general. With appreciation for her dedication and drive, her employers enrolled her in an advanced search engine marketing and optimization course and the rest is history.
Before Vital, Jamie worked as an SEO, SEM consultant, and front-end web developer before coming to the realization that she enjoyed planning projects and working with clients to meet their goals even more than testing and coding.
When she’s not embracing life as a Vitalian, Jamie enjoys baking, reading, writing, and exploring the Portsmouth restaurant scene. She lives by the Hampton seaside with her fiance and their three cats, which are obviously and regrettably not dogs, though they have all been taught to fetch.
Andrew Pappas is the PPC Manager for Vital and has an extreme passion for anything marketing related. After graduating from Keene State College’s Film Studies program with a focus on film production and writing he decided to pursue the world of independent filmmaking. It was shortly thereafter he realized marketing was as interesting and important as being creative. Since then, Andrew has worked for agencies in various capacities like sales, SEO and PPC and loves coming up with new and exciting ways to tackle any challenge.
When not in marketing mode Andrew practices voice acting in an attempt to humor his toughest critics; his two children. So far his Chewbacca call has had critical acclaim among the family, with the exception of his wife. Needless to say, he thoroughly enjoys spending time with his family and like any wookie impersonator loves a number of outdoor activities.
Devin’s career started as a photographer with an international magazine dedicated to covering the sport of rowing. In the downtime between regattas he started playing with the magazine’s layout, and soon after, a designer was born. Devin’s interest in design couldn’t be bound by mere paper, and it wasn’t long until he’d redesigned the magazine’s website. After his initial taste of web design, he was obsessed with the idea that you could just create anything you wanted on the web.
As the years passed he focused with Jedi like intensity, honing his web development skills. Most recently he worked at a Manchester based multimedia marketing agency as their lead web developer. When he’s not staring down code on his computer, he’s staring through the ground glass of his giant 60’s era camera, at the serene wilderness where he loves to camp.
Ian just recently graduated from the University of New Hampshire obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Marketing. His past work experience includes two summer internships with Allegion, working under the Kryptonite Lock brand. After gaining experience at Allegion, Ian decided to pursue another marketing internship during his senior year at UNH. Ian landed a marketing intern position with B2W software for the academic year and gained exposure to more B2B, email marketing.
Ian was a highly active student at UNH, joining a Fraternity, participating on the club wrestling team as well as becoming a member of the Marketing & Advertising club within the business school. In Ian’s free time, he enjoys running, weight lifting, hanging out at the beach, touring breweries and hiking in the White Mountains. Ian also loves staying active and keeping an “on-the-go” schedule as you will barely find him couchsurfing on the weekend!
Joe is a Project Manager in Vital’s Creative Services Department. He is a graduate from Quinnipiac University, where he holds a BS in Management. Having come from a family who owns a small business, Joe has always had a strong interest for business. In addition to marketing, Joe has experience in construction management, project management, operations, trading and a heck of a lot of restaurant experience. Joe is a local boy through and through and hopes to settle in Portsmouth for the long-term. His strongest passions are music (more or less any genre, he’ll listen to any suggestions!), soccer or sports in general and traveling. The greatest time of Joe’s life was living in Perugia, Italy and learning a new language as well as immersing himself in a completely new culture and exploring Europe.

Emily is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Masters of Public Administration. During her time at UNH she fell in love with Portsmouth and since graduating has made it her home. Having grown up in Western Pennsylvania though, she is a die-hard Pittsburgh sports fan and lives for playoff hockey. When she’s not working hard to keep her clients and teammates focused and happy, you can find her spending time with her family (husband Adam, son Edison and Aussiedoodle Pemi), cooking, baking, attending barre classes, traveling, celebrating her favorite holidays (it’s a tie between Christmas and the 4th of July) and being anywhere near the water.
Sarah joins Vital as a Senior Graphic Designer. She is an experienced graphic designer and illustrator who specializes in social media campaign development, branding and working with web developers to create functional and attractive sites. At the age of 20, Sarah moved to California and joined U.S. Navy Seabees, inspired by her grandfather who was one of the original Seabees back in the 1940s. Her military service took her to Afghanistan for a yearlong deployment during which she worked as a builder — pouring and finishing concrete, helping to create housing and functional buildings. After her Seabees service, she attended the Art Institute of Phoenix, graduating with a degree in design and illustration.
Upon graduation, she began work at a large advertising agency in Phoenix, then eventually moved to a small, full-service agency where she gained experience in web design, branding, advertising, social media campaigning and much more.

Emma’s parents are British and she lived in Lyon and Paris, France, each for a year. She has enjoyed experiencing the culture of Spain, Italy, Morocco, Switzerland, the Caribbean, and England and plans to experience life in many more countries. While handling public relations for the regions of Bordeaux, Cognac, and Beaujolais, Emma developed an interest in wine and spirits, which compliments her enjoyment of cooking. Connecting with nature is something that is very important to Emma. She hikes, skis (downhill and X-country), snorkels, and is learning how to paddle surf. Emma’s two children, aged 10 and 16, keep her on her toes with their various interests and activities. Her son currently has her learning lacrosse and basketball, while her daughter keeps her abreast of the latest in fashion and lingo.
A NH native who earned a BS in Communications Media from FSU (Fitchburg State University), Amanda joins Vital as a DMC (digital marketing coordinator).
A student of both graphic design and professional communications, she worked for eight years at a retail clothing company where she gained valuable experience in eCommerce, social media marketing and print and web content, while developing a passion for inbound marketing analytics and strategy.
She is fascinated by “the psychology of the internet and how we interact and respond to it,” and is excited that part of her new role involves using those insights to help execute inbound marketing tactics that are customized to the unique needs and goals of each individual client.
Ben joins Vital as a Digital Marketing Coordinator. He is a UNH-educated marketer who has served two tours in Afghanistan with the United States Marine Corps.
He holds certifications in Inbound Marketing, Google Analytics and AdWords Search and Display Advertising. Ben loves how digital marketing has changed the game for marketers, supercharging their ability to help businesses grow and use analytics to track their often dramatic results.
He is the proud father of two daughters (and three dogs) who loves to sing (“badly,” he claims). Ben is an Atlanta Falcons fan, but he has a Patriots tattoo because he lost a Super Bowl bet with his wife. He and his wife also team up on an Xbox appreciation website called thexboxlife.com (Xbox news, game previews, reviews, videos and more).
Cassidy joins Vital as a graphic designer with a passion for branding, web design and typography. She holds a BFA in graphic design from Keene State College.
Born and raised on the NH Seacoast, Cassidy started her career at TideWatch Partners, a local market research firm where she gained valuable experience in harnessing the power of data visualization, iconography and video. She has worked with several fortune 500 companies including Converse, Harley-Davidson and Citibank.
Cassidy has created and owns the rights to a proprietary typeface called Chivalry. She describes Chivalry as “a typeface brought to life through the history of illuminated manuscripts,” one that embodies a “medieval aesthetic.” Her award-winning visual artistry dates back to fourth grade when her entry (“a cow baking cookies”) won a cookbook cover design contest. Each summer, she donates artwork to Habitat for Humanity for their annual Garden Party fundraiser held at the Moffat-Ladd House.
Greer Lemnah joins Vital as a Content Strategist after bouncing from Vermont to Massachusetts working primarily in higher education communications. Her experience runs the gamut of all that marketing has to offer – from spearheading a #hashtag campaign aimed at boosting college enrollment, to garnering media placement about the opioid epidemic in national outlets. Greer’s favorite aspect of agency life is the variety of clients she gets to work with and the contagious creativity found in the office. Prior to joining our team in Portsmouth, Greer most recently worked at Boston University, writing all communications and social content for their dental school (she could probably even fill a cavity for you).
Greer first fell in love with writing when she won a state-wide writing contest in fourth grade and has since had content picked up by the New York Times and Hockey East. Her favorite assignment was covering Special Olympics Team USA during their training at Lake Placid, where she got to skate with the athletes on the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” rink.
Greer graduated from Saint Michael’s College in Burlington, Vermont with a degree in Media Studies and a minor in Marketing. Out of the office, Greer can be found rooting for any and all New England sports teams, catching rays on Plum Island, or flexing her knowledge at a local trivia night.
Andy joins Vital as a Senior Designer specializing in creating visually impactful designs that people can engage and have an experience with.
Andy went to school for graphic design with a concentration in typography at UMASS: Dartmouth but somewhere along the way he thought, “design would be much more interesting if you could fully interact with it”. So, he took as many programming classes as he could, much to the chagrin of his fellow artists, and plowed his way through design and programming. His first job was at Oracle, where he learned backend programming with his sweet Graphic Design degree. During that time Andy learned to love data and turned that into his next job as a software developer and designer, where he honed his front-end dev skills but also got pulled into marketing and designed everything the company needed — tradeshow booths, marketing sites, print ads, UI’s…you name it.
Outside of design, Andy tries to look away from the computer screen. He loves to do abstract acrylic paintings. You can find a few random samples here. He is also a diehard sports fan with the usual ties to New England but somehow, even living in Patriot Nation his whole life, he’s a huge Jacksonville Jaguars fans. When asked why Andy replies with “When I was young I loved their logo and colors… so, I guess I’ve always been destined to be a designer.”
Katie joins Vital as a Digital Marketing Coordinator. Katie has ample industry experience, having held multiple digital marketing internships before joining Vital. She has experience creating creative messaging for social media, lead nurturing email workflows, and Facebook ad campaigns. Katie also has experience drafting marketing reports, writing scripts and plans for promotional videos, and designing and creating digital product catalogs.
She is a graduate of the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire, where she received a B.S. in Business Administration with a dual concentration in Marketing Information Systems/Business Analytics (ISBA).
Outside of the office, Katie loves spending time outside, strength training in the gym, and traveling. She’s completed a Tough Mudder and has even been known to take spontaneous trips across the country. In the summer, you’ll probably find her hiking, boating, or floating down a river.
Liz graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Communications Design and a minor in Food Studies. This explains why she excels at creating designs that make people hungry to learn more about each client’s brand.
Liz particularly enjoys finding ways to push the envelope creatively for a brand while still maintaining its look, feel and standards. Her experience with design includes internships with FootLocker.com, Major League Lacrosse and EveryBodyFights, each of which combined her passions for creativity and sports/fitness.
When Liz isn’t designing, she’s often either at the gym coming up with fun workouts or outdoors running, hiking, biking or kayaking. She also carves out time for fine art crafts including painting, drawing and 3D work; and her apartment is full of DIY items. Liz’s favorite color happens to be orange so she and Vital were clearly meant to be.
Jenny developed a love for project management and marketing while working on a variety of campaigns. The two she found to be the most meaningful involved implementing a bike share program for the city of Winter Park, Fla., and helping to get a million trees planted around the world. Just prior to joining Vital, Jenny was a producer at a full-service marketing agency where she executed a wide variety of projects and integrated campaigns.
While originally from New Hampshire, Jenny chose to move to New York City after graduating with a degree in Environmental Science from Rollins College in Florida. After two years of big city living, she felt it was time to move home. Although Jenny isn’t technically using her degree, she views marketing as a science. She appreciates how it’s constantly changing and that there is always something new to learn.
In her free time, Jenny loves traveling whether to a nearby weekend destination or farther afield. If you hike, enjoy the beach or frequent downtown Portsmouth’s many restaurants, you may well bump into her.
Born in Brazil, Bianca moved to the United States with her family when she was just seven. She adapted easily to her new language and culture, and today she is a dual citizen who is fluent in both English and Portuguese and proud of her Brazilian heritage.
Upon graduating from high school, Bianca worked long days to put herself through college. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Southern New Hampshire University, she went on to work at Liberty Mutual Insurance as a Short Term Disability Case Manager. While at Liberty Mutual, Bianca medically managed claims for over 15 accounts, which entailed working very closely with clients to ensure they received the maximum benefit from their policy. Her commitment to always putting clients continues in her role at Vital.
Not surprisingly, Bianca’s international beginnings instilled in her a passion for travel. She was recently in Barcelona and Greece and intends to visit Bali, Coast Rica, Africa and Italy. When not traveling, Bianca enjoys spending time with her family, friends and fiancé.
Lexi’s enjoyment of using creativity to problem solve and her strong interest in marketing led her to Vital via a rather circuitous route.
A New Hampshire native, Lexi decided to leave the Granite State to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder where she majored in Business Administration with a focus on Finance and Marketing. While in college, Lexi interned at several companies including EF, an international education company; WLG Accounting and TEEM, a marketing firm. It was her time at TEEM that led her to pursue a career in marketing. When she finally returned home after graduation from college, Lexi began researching marketing firms in New Hampshire and reached out to Vital for an internship. The rest is history!
When not working, Lexi can usually be found outside with her golden retriever, Lulu. She enjoys hiking, skiing and boating.
Whitney was Born in Cape Town, South Africa, and raised in Arlington, Mass., just outside of Boston. A competitive figure skater through high school and college, Whitney attended University of Delaware, where she earned a B.A. in Public Policy and Non-Profit Administration with a concentration on Communications & Media and a focus on Environmental Policy.
Whitney had some rather unusual jobs (cleaning off oily penguins; raising and training puppies to be service dogs) prior to landing a position doing development, communications and events for a large non-profit. She then went on to become Communications Manager for Waterville Valley Resort, which enabled her to combine her love for communications and skiing. It was while attending a University of New Hampshire Digital Marketing Conference in Portsmouth that Whitney fell for both the city and the field of digital marketing. Her role at Vital focuses on two of her favorite activities — helping people and working creatively to solve problems.
During her free time, Whitney enjoys baking, cooking and ballroom dancing.
